19 inch toiletThese days when buying a toilet, you hear a lot about 17 to 19 inch ADA toilet height compliant Comfort Height toilets. But when you look for a tall comfort height toilet like a 19-inch high toilet or even an 18 inch high toilet it is difficult to find one. Fortunately after going through lot of toilet models, I came across two 19 inch toilets. I have discussed them here. One of them has a 19 inch toilet bowl height, while the other has a 19 inch toilet seat height.

The ADA compliant 19-inch seat height toilet is the Signature Hardware 413995 Stalnaker Toilet (link to its Amazon.com page #ad)

The 19-inch bowl height toilet is a new Kohler 19 inch toilet called the Kohler Highline K-25224-0 Tall Toilet (Amazon page link #ad)

19 Inch Toilets Comparison Table

Either of the two 19 inch toilets will be very comfortable for a tall person, senior or disabled person with a height of around 6 feet than other comfort height toilets. However, the 19″ Signature Hardware Stalnaker toilet is the most popular and better of the two.

The 19″ seat height Signature Harwardware Stalnaker toilet has been around for a few years now and has a reasonable price. It has also got hundreds of reviews on Amazon. So you can buy it without fear.

The 19″ bowl height Kohler Highline Tall toilet has good features and specs and belongs to the popular Kohler Highline series. However with its seat thickness, it becomes a 20 inch seat height toilet so it’s not ADA compliant.

The 19 inch Stalnaker toilet is also the tallest ADA compliant toilet for sale in the U.S. Any ADA (Americans with Disability Act 1990) compliant height toilet must have a toilet seat height between 17 to 19 inches. So other models listed here (except for the 18 inch high toilet) have taller seat height than that recommended by the ADA.

If you are not fixed on the idea of getting a 19-inch toilet, then the shorter 18-inch seat height Kohler Highline Classic toilet or the taller 20-inch Extra Tall Toilet and 21-inch Bradenton toilet are also good toilets to buy. All three models are very popular and have good reviews and ratings.

But keep in mind that over 20-inch toilets might be too tall for most people looking for a 19-inch toilet. With the seat thickness, the 20-inch Extra Tall Toilet becomes a 21-inch seat height toilet. And the 20.5″ Bradenton toilet has a 22-inch toilet seat height. So they are usually bought by someone very tall.

I’ve also seen some say the 20″+ toilets have an ideal disabled toilet height and handicap toilet height than the ADA comfort height. So some say they are the best handicap toilets for sale. However the ADA recommends disabled and handicapped toilets to be between 17 to 19 inches, especially in any public or private premises with public access. So the Stalnaker meets that federal government standard and is probably the best disabled and handicapped toilet too.

The 19″ Stalnaker toilet is the cheapest among its other nearest height competitor models. The shorter 18 inch Kohler Highline toilet is a bit more expensive than the Stalnaker. And the taller 20 inch Extra Tall toilet is even more expensive.

Overall now you have several tall toilet models with affordable prices to select and order from the comfort of your home and using only your phone or PC. A few years ago, when I started the Solid Toilet blog, a Kohler Highline 17 inch bowl height toilet was the tallest toilet available. At that time, if you wanted a very tall toilet like those listed here, you had to visit physically visit many medical and disabled supply stores and pay over a grand.

If you are still undecided about the best toilet model let’s have a little more in-depth look at the 19″ toilets below.

19 Inch Toilet Bowl Height

19-inch bowl height is a very comfortable toilet height for a tall person to sit down and stand up. Unfortunately, there is only one 19″ bowl height toilet model available in the market. I’ve discussed it below.

19″ Bowl Height Kohler Highline Tall Toilet

19 inch toilet bowlIf you are interested in a 19-inch bowl toilet then your only choice is the K-25224-0 Kohler Highline Tall Toilet (link to its Amazon page #ad). It has a bowl height of exactly 19 inches and a seat height of 20-inch toilet. That’s a very comfortable height for a tall person around 6 feet tall or above.

Overall this Kohler Highline Tall toilet is about 2 to 3 inches taller than the popular comfort height toilets for sale in the market which have a seat height of around 17 or 17.5 inches max. Here’s the link to its specification sheet PDF document with diagrams of its seat height and toilet dimensions.

This 19 inch Highline Tall toilet was released in late 2019.  I think it hasn’t got much attention so far because not many people have heard about it and its high price tag. So there isn’t many online reviews or comments to know much about this toilet. I guess as one of the top three American toilet brands, Kohler sells enough units of other models, they haven’t paid much attention to marketing this model.

This 19″ Kohler toilet is part of the Kohler Highline series of toilets. Other Kohler Highline models are 16.5 or 17-inch toilet bowl height. Those models are some of the best selling toilets in the U.S. They have been in the market for a long time and have got loads of good reviews and ratings. So I expect the same performance from this 19-inch high Kohler Highline toilet. (If you buy this toilet, please come back and share your thoughts about it in the comments below.)

19 Inch Seat Height Toilet

As I mentioned above so far I’ve come across only one 19 inch seat height toilet. In other toilets, the seat height is either shorter or taller than 19 inches. So let’s have a little more in-depth look at its details now.

19″ Seat Height Signature Hardware Stalnaker Toilet

19 inch toiletThis Stalnaker toilet from Sinature Handware has a bowl height of 18-1/4″ inches. With its seat thickness, the toilet seat height becomes 19 inches. Here is its specification sheet (pdf)  which has a diagram of the 19″ Stalnaker toilet showing its seat height and other measurements.

So the Signature Hardware 413995 Stalnaker 1.6 GPF Siphonic ADA Compliant Two-Piece Elongated Toilet (check at Amazon #ad) is the one and only toilet model for sale in the U.S. currently which has a 19-inch comfort height toilet seat.

But fortunately, after checking its measurements, reading online reviews, and generally following what the toilet industry and customers say about this toilet for over a year now, I can report that it’s a good toilet. It features and flushing performance is good and customer are satisfied. When I check about the model from time to time, I find a lot of good things said about it. You can see it from the online reviews and ratings it got from customers on Amazon and other online sites too.

Many customers have said its height is perfect for someone who is tall, elderly, or someone with leg problems. The toilet brand, Signature Hardware is also an old and reputable toilet supplier based in Northern Kentucky. They’ve been selling toilets all over the U.S. and Canada for a long time.

Signature Hardware is also quick to introduce new toilets like this Stalnaker when they see the market demands it. Their release of the even taller, 21 inch plus Bradenton toilet is an example of this. From the number of reviews it’s getting on Amazon, I think the Bradenton toilet is the most sold tallest toilet in the market today.

19″ Signature Hardware Stalnaker Features

Here are the Stalnaker Toilet features and details.

This model measures a little over 18-inch from floor to bowl rim alone. So it’s also the only 18-inch toilet bowl height model in the market today. With the toilet seat, it becomes 19 inches tall toilet. So it’s great for tall and elderly people. Especially, since most toilets today are either standard height toilets (14″ to 16″ seat height) or Comfort Height toilets that have a 16-1/2 or so toilet bowl height without the seat. Even with seat thickness, they only about 17 or maximum 18 inches tall.

The ADA act 1990, specifies that toilet seat height must range between 17 and 19-inches for the elderly or disabled to use comfortably. Toilets Stalnaker toilet even without the seat meets these ADA requirements.

Many toilets sold these days don’t include the seat. But the Stalnaker comes with a toilet seat included. But according to some customer reviews the toilet seat & lid supplied is not the best quality. It is one of the only complaints I’ve come across about this model. But its seat size is a standard size, so you can find a good replacement toilet seat easily. The hard part is finding a 19-inch toilet and this is the only one out there.

You can also add replace the toilet seat with a toilet bidet seat that sprays water and cleans your back, air dries your back with warm air, and even warms your toilet seat, all without touching the toilet or any toilet paper. How cool is that? If you haven’t got a bidet seat maybe you should look into it after getting this toilet. Depending on the bidet seat you get it will add about 1 to 2 inches to bowl height which might make this toilet into a 19 or 20-inch seat height toilet with the bidet.

18 Inch Toilets

The nearest shorter alternative to the above 19″ toilets is the 18.25″/18.5″ seat height Kohler Highline Classic toilet (Check at Amazon #ad).

18 Inch Kohler Highline Classic Pressure Lite Toilet

18 inch toilet
According to this Kohler Highline Classic toilet’s specification sheet, its toilet bowl rim height is 17 1/8 inches. With a recommended Kohler toilet seat that fits this toilet, it becomes 18 1/4″ or 18 1/2″ (depending on seat thickness). Kohler recommends three toilet seats for this Kohler Highline toilet. They are:

  • K-4636 Cachet Quiet-Close Elongated Toilet Seat – Seat Thickness 1 1/8″ inches (Check on Amazon)
  • K-5588 Purefresh Elongated Toilet Seat – Seat Thickness 1 3/8″ inches (Check on Amazon)
  • K-4108 C3-230 Elongated Cleansing Toilet Seat – Seat Thickness 1 3/8″ inches (Check on Amazon)

The first two are normal toilet seats. The last is a bidet seat with advanced options for easy cleaning.

Why Only Few 19 Inch Toilet Models For Sale?

That’s because many tall and elderly people are satisfied with the 17 or 17.5 inch high Comfort Height toilets that are commonly available for sale from top toilet brands like Kohler, Toto, and American Standard. The reason they become satisfied is, even 17-inch high seat height means they are about 2 inches taller than the older ‘Standard Height toilets’ they have been using all these days. The Standard Height toilets measure only around 15-inch with the seat. That’s why it’s so difficult to find even an 18-inch high toilet let alone a 19-inch high toilet.

Almost all the so-called tall toilets or ADA complaint toilets for sale in the market are ‘Comfort Height’ toilets. From what I have seen, when they say ADA compliant or ‘Comfort Height’ toilet, it generally means they have a bowl height of only 16″-16.5″ inches. They become a 17″-17.5″ inch seat height toilet with their 1″ or 1.5″ thick toilet seats thus coming within the ADA specified 17-19 inch seat height.

Final Thoughts on 19 inch high toilet

From what we saw and discuss here I feel the Signature Hardware 19 inch toilet is a good choice if you are looking for a tall toilet to alleviate the inconvenience experienced with age or due to leg problems. It’s also good for situations where mobility is an issue, or if you are a six-footer. The 19″ Stalker is easy on your purse too compared to its other nearest height toilet models.

  1. So where can I find the American Standard 19″ Stalnaker toilet????? Finally found information on tall seated toilets (18-20″) with your article, but says Amazon currently unavailable. 😖

    1. I just checked, the Stalnaker Toilet is available on Amazon. When you checked, it must have been temporarily out of stock.

    1. Hi Jeffery,
Unfortunately, all the tall toilets have an elongated bowl. However, the “Convenient Height 20 inch Extra Tall Toilet” is the best tall toilet for a small bathroom. It is only 27 inches long and 15 inches wide. So its several inches shorter in length and width than the 19 inch toilet and other tall toilets models. In fact, this 20 inch tall toilet is smaller in length and width than most of the round bowl toilets sold in the market.
